Houseboat Adventures offers Eco
Tours on any body of water in north central and central
Louisiana. Each river, bayou and lake offers its own
diversified ecological estuary system. Virgin cypress swamps
are futures on Bayou Dorcheat in Dixie Inn Louisiana. Cypress
lake systems are found on Black Lake in Campti as well as Lake
Bistineau in Minden. Remnants of the golden age of river travel
can be found on Cane River Lake in Natchitoches. The Red river
that flows through the entire state, offers the most diversified
estuary system in the state... It is not uncommon to find more
than 40 species of birds and several mammals during a typical
day on the water. Several species of snakes and amphibians have
no fear of the boats as we float by. Fall season offers the
additional waterfowl that visit Louisiana on their flight
south. Bald eagles and Osprey can be seen catching fish on any
of the area bodies of water. American alligator still cruises
the back waters of all bodies of water in north Louisiana.
Night excursions are the best way to see the alligators. This
trip includes cruising the water with spotlights to find various
mammals that roam the water edges. We can tailor any trip for
the particular species you are interested in.
